“I’m totally perplexed about why the fashion industry has not looked at these, frankly, dumb, basic clothes and cried, ‘hoax,'” he says about West’s latest fashion show forYeezy season 4. “Kanye Westis a sphinx without a riddle. I just don’t understand why people are so in awe. [The models in season 4] are basically wearing stretch undergarments.”

So the day after it was printed someone from her office called and demanded that a retraction be printed but Gunn refused. “Well that would imply that it’s not true, and it is true.”

He explains that she was just trying to exit the building quickly. “She had two bodyguards who made a fireman’s lock, she sat in it and they whooshed her down the stairs in this industrial loft building because there was only one elevator and everyone was running off to another fashion show. It was about speed. So it has made me persona non grata.”

And you better bet Wintour made it very clear to him, he is not welcome to the gala ever again. “I was invited to the Met Gala at one point a number of years ago and then was informed that I was uninvited, that Miss Wintour would not permit my presence. Well, I did the happy dance. I didn’t want to go anyway — big stuffy event.”

So have they mended their relationship since the incident? He says at a dinner party he was seated next to her daughter Bee Shaffer (who he describes as a doll, who’s lovely, smart, articulate and wonderful) and while Shaffer didn’t say anything about their feud, Wintour was giving him “dagger eyes” from across the room where she was seated all night.

As if two fashion feuds wasn’t enough, he recentlysparked controversy with designerssaying he was “baffled” that the American clothing industry is refusing to make clothes for the average size 16 woman. (You can read up on hisall critiques here.)
