Although bothRay RomanoandLisa Kudroware renowned for their acting chops, the pair found themselves bonding over their insecurities more than anything else as they filmed their new show,No Good Deed.

Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE at the premiere of the new Netflix comedy-thriller on Wednesday, Dec. 4, Romano, 66, spoke about his experience working with theFriendsalum, 61.

“I didn’t expect to bond over insecurities like we did,” Romano tells PEOPLE. “I thought I had the market on that. But we really had a good time talking about who was more insecure than the other. And I win. I won of course, but it was nice to see somebody going through some of the same thoughts that I do.”

Per Netflix’s official synopsis,No Good Deed, which begins streaming Dec. 12,follows Romano and Kudrow’s characters Lydia and Paul as a married couple who “decide to move on from their empty nest to forge a new life,” so they list their longtime home “and the real estate frenzy begins.”

“Multiple families all race to buy what they believe to be their dream house, convinced it will fix all of their very different problems. But as Lydia and Paul know all too well, sometimes the home of your dreams can be a true nightmare,” the synopsis reads.

“As they struggle to hide the dark and dangerous secrets that linger inside their longtime home, Paul and Lydia begin to realize that the only way they’ll escape the past is to finally face it.”

For Kudrow, working with Romano was equally as delightful, and as she tells PEOPLE: “He’s everything I thought he would be.”

“He’s easy. He’s effortless. He’s a fantastic actor. He’s really there. And so, it’s everything I sort of fantasized. I’d see Ray in other things, and say, ‘God, he’s a really good actor. I’d love to work with him, but I guess that’ll never happen,'” she recalled. “And then, I got to! So, I was nervous because you never know. And then, he turned out to be exactly who I thought he would be.”

“I do still do stand-up so I still get my fix on the live audience, but I like being able to emote from inside and not have to be so… On a three camera, four camera, whatever it is, you’re doing a play and you need to — especially at a sitcom — you need to heighten it a little bit and be a little broader,” he says, referring to the camera style typically used to shoot sitcoms.

“And I did that and now I’m enjoying getting smaller in a sense, and getting more subtle and getting more internal,” he adds of the tone ofNo Good Deed.“It’s fun.”
