The Hanover Park Police Department in Chicago   has had to warn house physician to be careful of " zombie"-like coyotes due to the animal becoming more combat-ready during the daytime . Obviously they are not existent zombies , but are infected with a skin upset called sarcoptic mange , which is causing residents to adjoin the police about what look like malnourished pet .

" latterly we have have several messages and billet from citizens refer about what look to be malnourished or overlook stray dogs , " the Hanover Park Police say in aFacebook position . " These are NOT lost favorite , but are in fact coyotes . "

They even shared two images to show the difference between a normal coyote and one that had the transmittable disease .

" There is unluckily an increment in sarcoptic mange in the urban Canis latrans population which has make these ordinarily nocturnal animate being to become more active during the day , " the post reads .

" septic animals will often appear mangey –   which looks just like it sound . They ache hair loss and develop secondary infections , finally looking like some sort of zombie dog . "

Mange is extremely contagious to other animal , and can also be transmitted to humans through prolonged inter-group communication with infected creature .

The Hanover Park Department has advised residents on how to carefully dispose of their waste by not leave nutrient or litter outside , to barricade them from pull in the wolf - like canine . The mange affects their vision , which causes the coyotes to search for food during daylight hour .

There have n’t been any reports of the coyotes sting or assail anyone yet . In fact , according to theCook County’surban coyote ecology and management website , " Domestic dog bites are far more common than bites by wild animals " . Better safe than dismal though .
