Speaking to NBC Miami on April 3, one of the couple’s 11 children questioned why their parents would be targeted.

“I’m so numb I can’t feel,” Kim Melvin Hill, a daughter of the couple, told the outlet. “Yes, we are angry, we are very angry. We are still trying to wrap our minds about how can we? Who would? Who did? Why? So we ask those questions.”

Tonya Mitchell, another daughter, told WSVN of her parents, “They were the most loving people that I’ve ever known. Both caring and whoever this perpetrator is, he just needs to be found.”

According to the AP, Mitchell said whoever killed her parents left behind her mother’s purse and other valuables.

As of April 3, authorities confirmed to NBC Miami that no arrests had been made in the slayings, which remain under investigation.
