Tank — whose real name is Durrell Artaze Babbs — has previously credited Foxx for saving his career during a time when he was ready to call it quits.

“I was considering not even doing music anymore,” hetold PEOPLEin 2018. “I didn’t like the way the [music] game was going. Once you get into the business you start seeing how ugly and dirty it is.”

“I was like, ‘I’m going to be done with this’ after myOne Manalbum didn’t do well,’ he continued. “I told Jamie, ‘I’ma just go home, man, and go back to playing at church.’ “

But Foxx wouldn’t hear of it.

“We were sitting in Jamie’s kitchen,” the “Maybe I Deserve” singer continued, “and he said, ‘You can’t go back, you can’t stop.’ He said, ‘If you stop what am I going to do? Who’s going to inspire me?’ “

Tank revealed that Foxx then invited him to stay at his home while he figured out his next steps.

“He said, ‘I know it’s tough times for you right now but you can stay at my house and use my studio every day until you figure it out and find your way back.’ “ Tank recalled.

“And that’s just what I did.”
