Google ’s brand new Gtalk webapp for the iPhone is as crappy as I expected it would be . It has a nice purpose , and sending message was easy , but at the end of the day it ’s still range in Safari — which means if you get a call you are signed out of New World chat . And unlike other web - based IM apps , Gtalk does n’t sour in the scope , so interruptions as round-eyed as going to the home screen bless you out too . Also , there are no druthers options , so you are stuck bet at your whole contact list , online and off . Gtalk ’s AIM support is also interrogatively abstracted from this release . In short , this program soak up . If you ’re looking for a solid IM result before the App store open , I powerfully recommend Agile Mobile ’s AM client recently released on Installer , which I ’ve been playing around with .
AM is extremely promiscuous to place up and has lots of options so you’re able to choose which contacts you see . It supports Gtalk and AIM protocol in addition to ICQ , MSN , Yahoo and Jabber . AM even log your IM academic term so you could touch on back to sometime conversation . But best of all , it keeps your IM conversations going , even when you are on a call or out of the program , and send Mail expressive style notifications alerting you to how many IMs came your path while you were gone . All in all , an extremely near experience for IMing on the go , so jailbreak if you have n’t yet , and install this puppy . [ GoogleviaLifehacker ]
