Just how dissimilar will the new Fantastic Four motion-picture show be from the versions we ’ve learn before ? Very unlike , it seems . Collider has a new interview with film director Josh Trank . And this first look at this version of the Fantastic Four ’s getup . And , well … it ’s bluer when you expand it to full - size of it and look closely ?
Trank want to set this picture apart from the other superhero movies out there , and he ’s drawing on the films of David Cronenberg to do it . He narrate Collider :
I would say that the science fiction of it is a boastful thing that sets it aside from most of the other superhero musical style movie . I ’m a huge David Cronenberg fan , and I always viewed Fantastic Four and the kind of outlandishness that happens to these characters and how they ’re transform to really descend in line more with a Cronenberg - ian skill fable tale of something horrible pass to your soundbox and [ it ] transforming out of control . And the potential for a hard sci - fi take on that material makes me really worked up . I do n’t really see that sort of potential and that kind of take being implemented on any of the other superhero movies that seem to be amount out in the next few years . Superhero movies have become a genre unto themselves and I did n’t really grow up on superhero moving-picture show . I rise up on genre movies before superhero was a genre .

He pass away on to explain how this Cronenbergian approach also bind into his interpretation of the word “ fantastic ” :
I mean a real misconception masses have come from the adjectives . Fantastic intend the tone needs to be fantastical , and we ’re speak about grotesque thing , but it does n’t think “ pop . ” People need to freshen their discernment of the English spoken language because “ fantastical ” think The Fly . These are grotesque things that are befalling literal people and the realities we see in our everyday lives . There ’s something creepy-crawly about the fantastical and there ’s something inspiring about the fantastical . And to have that be birthed out of a realness that we ’re familiar with is why we go to the movies . It ’s why I go to the movies . I want to see that . And I think it ’s lacking these Day . It will be nerveless to bring to a modern audience and introduce young consultation to stuff that I myself not too long ago flow in love with . And that ’s why I do what I do today .
With those quotation mark , the costume is definitely put into context . It ’s definitely not “ pop , ” and more “ Cronenber - ian . ” impart to it that we also now recognise that the grievance will follow good manners of Philip Glass and Marco Beltrami . envisage a score like that … and that ’s the tone Trank is going for .
