“ I detest my job ! ! ! ! ”
“ My boss is a full idiot – get me out of here ! ! ! ”
“ I have the speculative occupation ”

societal media does funny things to some people . While most would sensibly avoid calling their bungling boss an idiot to their look , many do n’t think twice beforeventing their anger and frustration on Twitter . A new puppet calledFireMe!offers a tongue - in - brass way of warning someone if they have gone too far .
Ricardo Kawase and colleagues at theUniversity of Hanoverin Germany create FireMe ! as a way of reminding everyone how risky it can be complaining about your line of work publicly on Twitter . In a single week last June , they found almost 22,000 hoi polloi who had twitch about their job or foreman in a damaging way .
The squad used an algorithm that looked for telltale phrase indicate someone had tweeted something negative about their boss or business . The substance abuser then received an automated qui vive tweet from FireMe ! which rebuked them with the message : “ Can you guess if your foreman gets to get it on that you say : ‘ I hate my job so much ’ . You said that on Twitter and the whole world can see it ! ”

Each alert also contained a link which , if followed , gave them their FireMeter ! grudge – their chance of being fired as a percentage . It was account just for playfulness but was based on how often they had bring up their job negatively in the past 100 tweets and how often they swear . Each user was also given the chance to cluck one of three options when they keep up the link : “ cancel that compromising tweet ! ” , “ contain my privacy configurations on twitter ” , or “ I do n’t manage ! ” .
Out of a total of 4304 FireMe ! alert sent in the space of three hebdomad , 249 recipient had deleted the tweet when it was checked 2 hours subsequently . A few also reply , from the relieved “ Thanks buddy ” to the nonchalant “ they already know I hate my job . I ’m in the process of leaving . Cheers for the heads up though ! ”
An analysis found that people who tweeted negatively about their job generally nip more than unconstipated users and had fewer following than those who twirp positive things about their work . The body of work will be stage at theWeb Scienceconference in Paris in April .

The squad say that young or inexperient user would certainly benefit from post - hoc privacy alerts and admonition like FireMe ! “ Potential danger of personal , negatively loaded tweet remain abstract for most substance abuser , until the impairment has been done , ” they say .
