Beauty and the Beast tend on the reset button pretty hard in last night ’s sequence , choosing a whole new mythology to push back the show frontward . As a result , Cat ( Kristin Kreuk ) is now the humankind ’s worst cop … and we ’ve doubled down on government conspiracies .

The fresh time of year begins with a sentence parachuting from the events of last season ’s finale . It ’s three month later — Vincent ’s still missing , Cat ’s begetter is dead ( and she still does n’t love he was n’t her biologic father ) , and Gabe ’s alive , de - Beasted , and seek to prove that he ’s really Cat ’s ally . Also , Tess is wandering around , in reality bring , and give tongue to skepticism about the healthiness of Cat ’s obsession with find Vincent .
JT manages to track down Vincent , who is with evil scientist Zhao . Zhao makes indisputable to let us know that he “ IS Muirfield , ” Zhao gets aside , and Vincent is found scratch - less and with a terrible case of amnesia – he does n’t recollect TJ , Cat , or anything , really .
Cat ’s at her father ’s commemoration , when she has a tense meeting with her sister , who chooses NOT to tell Cat about her true parentage . They have a conversation loaded with subtext , where she says that fathers never approve of their daughter ’s boyfriends , and he knowingly accord .
Cat skips out on the commemoration to track down Vincent , who tranq - ed TJ after bugger off a voice - altered call from “ Condor . ” Vincent , it seems , has had his memories replaced with soldier obedience programming . Condor is — wait for it — FBI Bob , whose whole plan is apparently to use Vincent to kill Zhao / Muirfield and cover the connection between them and the government .
Cat arrives at the construction where Zhao ’s shout at Vincent for information . The construction catches fire , and Vincent chooses to economise Cat . Cat takes this as proof that their love is meant to be and that they now get to “ diminish in love with each other all over again . ”
And then Zhao turn up mauled and beat anyway .
So essentially this whole instalment served to set up a brand new status quo : go is the police procedural — Cat is now the spoiled NYPD detective ever , focused entirely on Vincent and their honey . Which has also been reset to be rebuild from scratch .
They ’ve double up down on administration cabal and interpersonal play . Muirfield ’s drained , so the big badness ’s hold up to be FBI Bob and his cohort . Whether or not these changes will make the show better remains to be envision .
