In China , west and slimly to the south of Beijing , lies the Ordos Basin . It resemble a teenager ’s messy way — one turning point is flat and clear , and the other is a giant pile of debris . And when we say , “ jumbo , ” we mean “ the size of it of a state”—nd it ’s on the move .
Up at the northwest remnant , the Ordos Basin has the Mu Us Desert , a small offshoot of the giant Gobi desert . Wind sweeps across the Mu Us Desert , taking with it sheets of junk and dust . In some areas , this detritus would sprinkle over the terra firma nearby , covering it with fine level that eventually slump or blend into the land . However , the dust from the Mu Us does something a piddling unlike , and it form the other prominent feature of the Ordos Basin .
The Loess Plateau is made entirely of this rubble , and the wind instrument is slowly drive this monolithic tableland across the continent . The dust is presently constitute a rough crescent around the Mu Us Desert , but that embodiment may alter . According to the paper on the content , “ Our observations suggest that the Loess Plateau previously extended farther to the north and Benjamin West of its modernistic windward escarpment margin and has been partly reworked by eolian processes . ”
