In 100 years , we ’ll still appreciateblack and white street photography . I have in mind , it ’ll take flight at our retina at warp 9 and we ’ll be tasting it via synaesthetic implant , but it ’ll still be in black and white .

WINNER – Woman on the Street

My name is Alessandro Schneider and i m from Munich Germany study Photography in Florence . I used a Nikon FE Black 35 mm film camera with a AF Micro Nikkor 105 mm 1:2.8 lens system and Kodak Tri - x 400 B&W Negative Film . The story behind the exposure is the following . It was a bright and cheery morning on my way to school and the sun luminousness was hitting the street in a way which cast prospicient phantom . I in person did not believe in the utter present moment to appropriate a photograph but there it was veracious infront of my optic . All i had to do is heighten my tv camera check the lightmeter and hold down the shutter button . At the time i did not think much of it but it happened to be my last pictorial matter on my peal of film and it so happened that i was go to my dark room course of study to grow that roll of film . All come together and my submission is a print .

Where To Next?

My name is Christoph Welkovits and I ’m an Austrian avocation photographer currently read architecture . I took the photo on the “ Mariahilferstrasse ” in Vienna ! The whole scene looked really uncanny to me because the man ( I suppose he was her married man ) was standing there like he ’d punch her in the boldness just properly now ! I pretend you could see what I intend ! Leica M6 TTL , Leica Summicron 35/2 APSH . , Shutterspeed ~1/60 , F - stop 2.0 , Film : Trix 400 push to 1600 , train in XTOL , Scanned with a Nikon Coolscan IV , edit out in PS

Praise!

My friend and I go downtown to assay to determine good subjects for this photo challenge … unfortunately , we did n’t cerebrate about it being Sunday , and the streets were practically deserted . After a couple of 60 minutes of disappointment in the cold , this man derive singing and dancing down the main street to some ( clearly inspiring ! ) Christian euphony that only he could hear . We tail him for nearly 10 blocks , hear to get a shot between trees , cars and pedestrians , and finally got him as he made this striking exit onto a side street . Shutter : 1/790 , Aperture : f/5.6 , ISO : 100

Liberty

take this shot as I was walking through Times Square at near night clock time . Saw a guy dressed up like the statue of autonomy and a family render to take a photo of him . This one kid was strain to be funny for a group of Friend nearby and was sneaking around behind him pic - bombardment “ bunny girl - ears ” into all the shots . The slant of the shot and composition was me trying to be inconspicuous to his group of champion that were almost right next to me , I had very little time to compose and focus(manual ) and snapped the shot off as quick as possible , immediately turning and walking away after . you could see the giant Samsung Logo in the top left out of focus and a McDonald ’s in the bottom right . If you ’ve been to Times Square that should give you a reasonably good indication as to where we were stand . Times Square / NYC

Hand-Holding Ahead

On Sunday good afternoon I shouted to myself “ challenge accepted ” , took my camera and went out to drift around the city in search for some nice pray to shoot . After about one-half and hour i saw this witching duet holding their hand and realized that there is a walker way sign about 500 metre ahead . I had to follow them all the way of life there , and once they approached it i just come out snapping and running around from left to right to capture at least one shot at a nice slant . I probably looked pretty strange doing so but then again this city is full of weird the great unwashed and that ’s why I eff it here in Lund 🙂

shoot with a Nikon D3100 . 1/250 sec at ISO 12800 . 18 - 105 mm lens at 90 mm and F/5.6 ( followed by some cropping ) Forgot to turn off noise reduction 🙁

Heart Attack

I was walking down Jefferson Street in San Francisco , when I saw a man come down to the ground , so I ran over to see what materialize . A cop and a physician got to him before I did , so I rive out my canyon EOS Rebel SLR and snapped a exclusive shot , after which I feel like a painful person for doing so since the man was having a bosom attack . Anyways , all redaction was done in a darkroom and I shoot with a 35 millimeter lens Ilford HP5 Plus ISO 400 film , f/5 , 1/40 .

Permission Wall

I postulate my boys downtown to snap a “ permit bulwark ” ( effectual place to graffiti ) that was of late talked about in the local paper . This particular shot I appropriate as the creative person was step back to see at his advance . It came out a lot better than I suppose it was going to . picture take on with iPhone 4 and cut with camera+ app for black and white and add together depth .

Orthopedics

I was walk in San Francisco when I saw this gentleman’s gentleman across the street . Something about the elbow room he was hunching over , leaning against the telephone poll made me grab my camera , press it to my human face , and squeeze the shutter . In B&W , the scene take on a whole new stage of somberness , which color just could not capture . photographic camera – Nikon D40 , Lens – 55 - 200 mm f/5.6 , ISO – 400 , Shutter – 1/400 sec .

Waiting

I knew that I desire to apply the Miami Metrorail for thisshooting challenge . I really suppose that I would capture the shot on the Metrorail itself , but there was this couple that I found really inspiring on the platform ( I ’m pretty trusted they thought I may have been a stalker ) . I in reality was trying to bewitch the swain because he had this really great newsboy style hat on , but right as the railcar start up to come , the girl get into this affectedness and I clicked . I did my B&W and post - processing work in Lightroom . I bestow grain to the shot give it a little more of a gritty burden . Enjoy . Nikon D90 , Nikon 18 - 105 ; f3.5 - 5.6 , ISO : 800 Exposure : 1/40 at f/22

Silhouettes

I went to the square in business district Denton Texas on Sunday afternoon wait to see a derelict pavement and little or no activity . Much to my surprise , Denton has a very active downtown . IKEA Nap

hour of shop in an overcrowded IKEA on a weekend is outstanding fun – if you bring your television camera ! My fiancé and I die to IKEA Burbank ( LA , California ) this weekend to purchase loads of piece of furniture for our new theater . I had my Sigma DP2 ( I do it that tv camera ) hanging around my cervix and just comfortably rested one paw on it with my finger’s breadth on the trigger , ready to fool away any clock time . And so I did , I study tons of word-painting ( all of them blindly , with the screen switched off ) . I only looked at them all at the end of the day when I was all done . It was so much fun !

This one I chose because I wish the surfaces and line as well as the dynamic in it . The guy lie on the bed severalize a lot about how exhausting IKEA can be on a weekend . At the same time the pictorial matter has a piece of a tragical quality with the bozo being reminiscent of a young Heron dying in a play such as Rebel without a Cause . Ah IKEA , so much excitement all over a chip of furniture ! Sigma DP2 , 24.2 focal length , f2.8 , exposure 1/80 , ISO 800 , minor enhancements in iPhoto

Living in the great metropolis of Chicago this was a contest that I could n’t pass up . I was walk my dog throughout the metropolis with this weeks Shooting Challenge in mind . Although , I was too engaged trying to make the idea that I had in my nous opposed to bet around look on hoi polloi ; this rapidly became my downfall . After an hour or so passed with no luck , and almost no photos taken , I was channelise down the financial district when I note these three men , face at their phones and smoking . I quick grabbed my Nikon and pop out shooting . I find this is the most “ telling ” of the curing . frivol away on a Nikon D60 with my 18 - 55 millimeter f/3.5 - 5.6 kit lens at 55 mm , f/5.6 and shutter speed was at 1/30 sec , with the ISO at 200 .

Reflection

I was really excited about this workweek ’s project , because I love “ slip ” portraits off the street . I waited , however , until the nighttime before submission were due , which turned out to be a frigid , unruffled dark in the metropolis . I started at Madison Square Park , scud all the way down to Chinatown and was n’t felicitous with anything I got off the street . Half - way down , though , I stopped in a eating house in the Village and , as I was ordering , I realized that the inflammation at the legal community was pretty lovely . I take the server to move me over and , as I waited for my nutrient , I set my camera on the shiny marble legal profession and took a few guesswork . I ’m bright that this qualifies , give that I was n’t technically “ on the street ” when I took the nip . ISO 5000 , f 3.2 at 1/50 with a Canon 28 mm 1.8 on a 5D Mark 2 .
